In My Shoes

You don’t feel my pain,

You don’t feel my hurt,

You tell me not to cry;

As you sing your child

Songs of rainbows and butterflies.

To ease my pain, you say

He is in a better place;

As you tuck your child

In your warm embrace.

Let me take your child,

Just for a single day,

To a place where you can not feel him,

A place, you can not touch.

Then you can understand my pain,

And know why; I hurt so much.
